I open my eyes and find myself staring at the cloudless sky. Painfully I picked myself up from the ground. I touched my forehead, where a deep gash is there, the wound still fresh. Looking around, I see the wreckage of the plane I was on hours ago. Luggage bags strewn everywhere, clothes of different shades and sizes scattered all over. How did I ever survive the catastrophe? More importantly, where am I?
Although my throat was parched, I gave a cry. "Is anyone around?"
I see movements in the bushes ahead of me. I was not alone. 7 other ladies who were with me on the flight somehow survived the crash as well. Deep in my heart, I know we will need to work together in order to survive where we are at - The Amazon...

An authoritative voice broke the silence. "Alright, listen up sisters! We are not in paradise and we all need to work our butts off if we want to make it home in one piece!" It was Jeanne, a middle-aged woman, whose calm demeanour is barely hiding the edginess in her.
"Bitch! I wondered who appointed her the boss," the tall blonde lady called Heidi whispered to me. I kept quiet, keeping my thoughts to myself.
Pretty soon, jobs like gathering firewood, cooking and doing the laundry were delegated. While everyone seemed to be getting along together well, there is an obvious distrust among each other. I slowly got to know everyone at the tribe:
Jeanne - Self appointed leader or rather, she was the one who was brave enough to step up to the plate when nobody else would. Shawna - Cheerful and happy-go-lucky. She helps keeps the spirits up at the tribe. Christy - A disabled young woman with a positive attitude. However, sometimes she tries to take on more than she could chew and ended up not delivering what she promised. Janet - A mother figure at the tribe. Kind of just lazing around the camp while watching the others work their butts off. Heidi - She may look like a dumb blonde but she is far from it. I believe she is secretly scheming something and I would keep an eye out on her. Joanna - She likes to talk a lot but at least she happily volunteers to help out at camp. Deena - One of the weakest link at the camp. Hasn't contribute much and is considered dead weight.

One day, while I was out collecting firewood in the jungle, I saw Jeaane picking wild berries while angrily muttering to herself. I approached her cautiously and asked her if anything's wrong.
"I just feel that not everyone at the tribe is pulling their weight," she said with a disheartened look. I agreed with her saying that without unity at the tribe, we won't survive for very long. I then proposed that both she and I stick together and watch each other's backs.
"Sounds good to me. Maybe we can rope in a few others, such as..."
She was interrupted by a loud scream coming from camp. We both quickly rushed back to see what the commotion is about.

When we arrived at camp, we saw the rest of the girls surrounding a lying figure on the ground. As we got closer, we saw it was Janet.
"What happened?" Jeanne asked, as she checked for a pulse. No vital signs. She was obviously dead. A bit of white foam was seen coming out of her mouth.
"We have no idea. She just collapsed and started spasming," Heidi answered. The other girls just kept silent.
"She's been poisoned," I mentioned, pointing out the foam from her mouth. Gasps came all around as everyone eyed each other suspiciously. Trust is definitely going to be a big issue moving forward at camp...

After giving Janet a proper sending off, I was sitting alone under the shades of the trees gazing into the distance. I heard the rustle of leaves coming from behind me and I quickly turned around. It was Shawna.
"Mind if we talk a little?" she asked. I smiled and welcomed her to sit beside me.
"Things have been pretty crazy, huh? Who would want to murder Janet?" she wondered out loud. I just shrugged my shoulders.
"You know, we should really watch each other's backs. At least we will be somewhat safer that way," she continued. I could see tears forming in her eyes. She was really scared. I agreed to her proposal and gave her a warm embrace.
"Thanks Jenna, I really appreciate it. I will catch you later, okay?"
I watched her walk back to camp, thinking to myself. It probably doesn't hurt to have allies watching over your back after all.

It's been over a week since we became stranded in The Amazon. Still no sign of any life except for the 7 of us girls. We are currently surviving on the wild berries and the occasional wild boar we could catch. But this can't go on forever and time is running out... Today was just like any other day except I stumbled across something fascinating. It was a parchment stuck onto a tree trunk. Cautiously, I tore it down and read what was written on it: Panicking, I quickly looked around my surroundings. Only trees and bushes. Not a single sign of life. I was pretty sure this wasn't the work of one of the us. Guess we are not alone after all..

I went back to camp and shared my findings with the others. There was a sense of dread and murmurs were heard all around.
"We need to find out more about this," said Deena. Some of the other girls just nod in agreement. As I was the one who made the discovery, I volunteered to investigate further.
"Take Christy with you and be safe," Deena added. Somehow I had a feeling Christy wasn't too happy about this. The look in her eyes. Was it fear or anger?
The next morning, we both headed out, back to where I found the parchment. I tried to strike conversation with my companion but she was quiet throughout the whole journey. Soon, we arrived at the exact spot. Nothing out of the ordinary. I looked at Christy and she was nervously looking at something behind me. I slowly turned around and stared straight into the barrel of a shotgun!

My reflexes kicked in and I immediately ducked as I heard the loud bang, followed by an ear-piercing scream from Christy as she falls to the ground, bleeding profusely from a fatal wound in her chest. With the gun now levelled on me, I looked my assailant in the eye. He had a crazed look upon him. I closed my eye, knowing my end has arrived..
"What the fuck are you doing, Matthew?" someone shouted. I opened my eyes to see a group of guys approaching the area. One of them immediately snatched the gun away from the trigger-happy dude.
"Look, we don't shoot anyone or anything unless they are a threat to us," said the one holding the gun. He seemed like the leader of the group. "Alex and Rob, go check out the one who was shot."
He then offered me his hand. "I am Ryan. Are you all right?"
I was too shocked to do anything. From behind, I heard the dreaded confirmation of Christy's demise. "She's dead. No one could have survived that shot at point blank range."
"Fuck! Let's just get out of here," Alex said, dragging me to my feet and signalling for the others to leave the area.
As the five of us left the area, I stole a final glance at Christy's lifeless body sprawled on the ground. I whispered a silent prayer for Christy and vowed to take revenge for the cruelty that befell her.

I was still in a daze as the guys drag me across the jungle. I soon lost sense of direction, with no idea of where they were taking me. The only sound I hear were grumbles and curses but they soon became inaudible as I continued walking as if in a trance.
"Girl, what's your name?" It was Ryan asking me. Reluctantly, I answered him.
"So, Jenna. We need to know if there are any others with you. It is very important," he said. I was really reluctant to answer him.
"Look, we are also survivors from a previous plane crash and we saw how your flight crashed about a week ago. We have been in this jungle for almost a month now. We know what it takes to survive," he continues. If what he says is true, then he already does know about us and there is little point in hiding the truth. I told him how there are five others back at camp.
"Great! Bring us there. We need to work together if we are to survive this." He then signalled to Matthew. "Go get Butch. And bring whatever supplies and weapons we have." Matthew turned and headed in the opposite direction.
"Don't worry," Ryan reassured me. "No matter what happens, there are 6 of you and 5 of us. You all still have the numbers," he said, winking.
As we walked back to my camp, I thought about what he said. What if one of the girls actually flip against us? With whatever happened to Janet earlier, I wouldn't bet against it. Right now, I can only hope that the girls do stick together and my existing alliance holds strong.

As we approached the camp, there was an eerie silence. No one seems to be around. Where are the girls? I went ahead of the group and called out for them. No reply. I was worried.
That's when I saw a glint and a whooshing sound coming towards me. My instincts kicked in and I turned my body to the side, narrowly avoiding the speeding hunting knife that was hurled towards me. The guys behind me never saw it coming and they barely had time to react. I looked behind and saw the knife embedded in Rob's throat. He is holding on to it, gurgling blood and eventually falls down dead.
I see the girls running towards us, brandishing weapons such as pitchforks, machetes and axes. Defenceless, I ran behind them for safety.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang and everyone stopped in their tracks. Ryan just let off a shot in the air from the pistol in his hand. He slowly aims it towards us.
"Okay, fun's over. Now, step back and don't try anything funny," he said. Meanwhile, Matthew is aiming this shotgun at us, looking as if he will pull the trigger at any second.
"This isn't how you are suppose to welcome your guests. We should all just get along," he continued. He signalled to Butch and Alex who forced us into an empty hut and sealed the entrance, locking us in.
"You girls get comfy in there while us boys get acquainted with our new home," Alex snickers. I managed to spit in his face before he walked away. He raised his hand to hit me but was stopped by Ryan.
"That's not very lady-like. You all better behave if you want to continue living," he said sternly. I watched them walk away and helping themselves with whatever supplies and food we have gathered over the past few weeks. I then looked at the girls, sensing both fear and anger in their eyes. We need to do something and not just sit back...
